Stihl Incorporated | Simple Ways to Get a Job at Stihl

STIHL Incorporated careers could be a perfect fit for you. German company STIHL makes chainsaws and other hand-held power tools like trimmers and blowers. Their main office is in Waiblingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, which is close to Stuttgart. Andreas Stihl started Stihl in 1926.

He was one of the first to make chainsaws, which was a big step forward. Stihl says it makes the best chain saws in the world and is the only company that makes its own saw chains and guide bars. Andreas Stihl AG is a privately owned business that Andreas Stihl’s family runs. The Stihl Timbersports Series is run by Stihl.

About the company

In 1926, Andreas Stihl made his first chainsaw by hand from plans he had made. It was run by electricity and weighed about 48 kg (106 lb). At first, Stihl grew slowly because chainsaws came out around the same time as the Great Depression.

At that time, people were cheap, and old two-person saws worked well enough that there was no need for power saws. Stihl made the first chainsaw that one person could only use in 1930. The business kept growing, and in 1931, it was the first European company to sell chainsaws in the US and the USSR.

During the Second World War, the company was called “A. Stihl Maschinenfabrik” and was based in Bad Cannstatt. Bombings in 1943 and 1944 damaged the factory, so it was moved to Neustadt (now Waiblingen). In 1939, the company had about 250 workers. During the war, it also had several slave workers.

In 1945, Allied troops arrested Stihl, a member of the Nazi Party and the Allgemeine SS, and took over his company. After being locked up for three years, he was labeled a Mitlaufer and let go, with his company returned.

Since 1971, it has been the largest company in the world that makes chainsaws. Around the middle of the 1970s, Stihl grew by building factories in Brazil and the United States.

Most of the increase in demand came from the building and landscaping industries, but in Brazil, it was mostly from clearing forests. Stihl also made tools for home use, like blowers, line trimmers, edgers, and chainsaws, as well as for professionals.

In the 1970s, when they were still making chainsaws, Stihl got into the weed-trimmer/brush-cutter market. They worked with a Japanese company for a few years until they had their model to make themselves.

In 1992, Stihl bought an Austrian company called Viking and in 2008, Qingdao, China, became home to the newest Stihl factory. In December 2008, Stihl bought the company Zama, which made carburetors, to ensure a steady supply and get into a new business area with room for growth.
