History of Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA)

Federal University Lafia in Nasarawa State was established in February 2011 by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The University is located in Lafia the capital of Nasarawa State in North Central Nigeria which is rich in solid minerals and agricultural products.
The university was created in order to expand access to, and improve quality of, higher education in Nigeria.

This intervention was also aimed at ensuring equity in the distribution of higher educational amenities and opportunities across the country. The determination of the Federal Government to increase and expand access to higher education in Nigeria derives from the observation that globalization and rapid technological change have made knowledge a critical determinant of competitiveness in the world economy today.
